REPORT CC1

INTRODUCTION

This assignment was to model a cartoony head in maya, and then give it three different expressions using vertex tools.

THE ASSIGNMENT

When I started on this assignment, I was clear of what I should create. Evereyone got the imageplanes to put into maya, and use as a template for the modeling part. Ofcourse everyone made some changes each, due the skills and to put a little personal touch on it.

After the head was done, I searched up a website that allowed me to see different expressions by clicking on different parts of the face. I used this website as a reference for this assignment.

The head was not supposed to be textured for this week. The assignment said render in low and high-poly, with wireframe, so here is my finished result.

EDGEFLOW AND TOPOLOGY

To get a good edgeflow and topology in this assignment, I had to figure out how to get the shapes I wanted, without using too much polygons. I choosed to first create the face in front-view mode in maya, and then flip over to side-view and then build the side of the head. We have followed tutorials on how to create heads in class, so I used the same technique on this assignment.

To build the head, I started with one plane, and extruded piece bu piece, and tuned the vertex points in the face afterwords.

This is the finished result in low-poly.

SELF EVALUATION

This assignment was honestly no problem to do. I had some small issues, but after a chat with my teacher, I figured it out. The thing tough, is that I didn't actually get the right shape that I really wanted. I tried my best to make the head as like as possible the imageplanes we were using in class, but some parts was too difficult to do, so I choosed to go ''around'' and do it even more simple, especially around the nose and eyes. I could have added some more loops around the eyes to get some more ''realistic'' expressions, so that is something I'm going to think about in the future.

Last words for this assignment is that it was really really fun, and I'm looking forward to begin on our 2 week character project, starting on monday!

Here is my finished result of this assignment:
